How would you deal with this situation? There is a co worker at my hubby's workplace that is willing to totally debase himself to jump over my husband's head. By company rules, he has less seniority than my husband and therefore isn't allowed to jump over his head, but he's trying, hoping hubby won't notice. There is a big raise involved with this promotion, so hubby isn't willing to let it go.
I should add that the boss is probably in on the scheme, but this isn't corporate at least.
The boss's sales are way down and head office is aware of it. We think his own job is in jeopardy and he is willing to promote someone he thinks is a 'go-getter' to 'fluff' his numbers. He tried to fire upper-echelon employees with 25+ years seniority and head office said no, he couldn't do that. These people are really friggin' scary!

I have been working at my place of employment for the past 2 years, and have been a key holder for the past 8 months. Last week, I was offered a promotion; store manager. I'm really excited that they considered me for the job, but i'm in need of advice. Here are the details.

-I would work an average of 35 hours a week.
-Would get a 1.50 raise (so about 10 an hour, and no more tip sharing for me)
-I would be in charge of more or less running the store and it's employees (except for all the book keeping and finances, which will be done by one of the assistant managers.)

Did I mention that I just turned 19, and am a full time college student? That's a big factor for me too. I'm also concerned about some of the employees. I have seniority over most of my co-workers but I am concerned as to how some of the people who are older and have been there longer than me would take to the news if I took the position. The store is busiest in the summer, and I'm worried if I take the position I would more or less be giving up my entire summer.
I guess what i'm asking for, are an outsiders point of view. I've talked to my parents who gave me the 'it's a big decision and a great opportunity but school comes first" speech. If you were in my shoes, what would you do?

Advice and your thoughts on the matter would be greatly appericiated.
