Dealership techs should know this exemption: federal law exempts from overtime any "salesman, partsman, or mechanic primarily engaged in selling or servicing automobiles, trucks, or farm implements" at a non-manufacturing dealer that sells to ultimate purchasers. Independent shops and fleets aren't covered by that exemption. The statute is 29 U.S.C. 213(b)(10).
