The New Year’s resolution for most employers will be to keep staff levels stable during the first quarter of 2010, according to a report released Tuesday.

I recently started a few days ago in a warehouse and I am looking for something else, do not worry this was only meant to be a temporary work anyway, as most people stay there for a month or two then leave for something better, and I want to know what is the best place to start looking for work again. I only make 9,15$/hour during the day and 9,65$/hour during the night(soon to have a 50 cent raise since minimum wage is going up) I work 12 hour shifts, and I work 2 days, 2 days off, 2 nights, and 3 days off, with double wages after 44 hours, so basically I get 4 hours overtime a week, not sure how much I make in a week though, but its just to get the idea, I work in lots of heat which I can't stand (90 degrees in the winter to about 150 in the summer, and yes it has reached that high before, so the employees tell me) and just need to know how to pick a good location to start working, it took me about 62 weeks to find this one, and I don't want to let it go without finding something else. Lots of employees just quit after a few weeks anyway, they just either don't show up, or show up for a few hours and just walk out. My co-worker said I already survived longer than like 90% of people under 25. just so you know, I can pass any drug test and any criminal record check the employer throws at me, so I just need to know where to start looking. I have maintenance and cleaning of a sports facility, I have storage in a golf course(putting away golf clubs after golfers rounds, power carts, things like that) and I have that little warehouse experience, not much, but it is a start
it is basically 15 cents above minimum wage during the day, and 65 cents during the night
I am a full time college student and I work at an insurance agency about 34 hours each week. I have many concerns of fairness. Though I work 34 hours each week I am considered "part-time." I do not get paid holidays or any benefits (not that I need them as I am covered on my parents plan) but stil…
I am given the same responsibilities as others even though I work less hours and I am expected to do the same work as everyone else. This would be fine, but everyone else is being paid nearly double what I am receiving in my meager hourly wage.
There are many benefits to my job: They are very flexible with my hours and school schedules, It will look great on my resume, and I am gaining knowledge and experience.
My main concern is that I feel as if I am treated unfairly since I am the youngest in the office. Each person I work with has Children around my age. Even though I am not the last person hired, I am given the "grunt work". Filing, cleaning the bathroom, Dusting, Dishes (yes- my co-workers dishes), Watering the plants, vacuming, garbage, scanning, etc.
We have 2 offices, I only work at one, but am responsible for these tasks at both (I am cleaning someone elses office, dishes, messes, etc).
First, with having all of these responsibilities on top of everything else, I do not have time to complete my other tasks. Then I am accused of poor prioritizing and time management when in honesty I am working constantly trying to complete my tasks and even staying late to try to complete them (I don't usually adjust my time sheet for this – – Maybe I should). We are short handed but still, I do not think it is fair that I am being paid less to do the same work (plus more) in less time.
Is it time to start Job Hunting??
They may be able to boss their kids around but I don't think it is fair to go by age, these tasks should be based on who has the most seniority.
Also, I asked for a pay raise and was told that the bonus (for any increases in premium or sales) is my chance to earn more. But how can I try to sell things when I am busy scrubbing the toilet and cleaning up my co-workers lunch mess, and taking out their garbage?
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
I get paid hourly. (I also get 10% of any upsell in coverage to an existing policy and 5% of any new policy that I write.) It is considered bonus rather than commission.
The issue that I have comparing my salary to others is that they are older and have more work experience. I am assuming that this is the difference between our pay rates.
Also, I asked for a review about a month ago, and without even asking for a raise it was made very clear that our bonus is our opportunity to make more money.
and when the grunt work doesnt get done, things start falling through the cracks ((not so much the cleaning but other activities that I am responsible for are not getting done and we are losing renention and client satisfaction))
Is it possible to be paid salary based on 34 hours each week? and how do I approach my boss about being considered "full time"? Frankly I think he is just cheap.
